Renovations

You will always be guaranteed a stress-free and smooth project completed to the highest standards available which we can offer due to our years of experience and know-how in home building, renovating and design. Our teams excel in renovation work, starting with a good idea and turning it into a beautiful new addition to any home.

Breathing new life into a property can mean anything from a new kitchen to a complete change in layout. Renovating can be a small job on a budget or a remodel to change the entire property drastically. A house renovation project is a chance to make a property your own.

More extensive renovations can help make an older property habitable again or get a house ready for sale. Renovating can also be a means of personal development, creating new working environments or spaces for leisure.

Deciding to renovate a house is an excellent alternative to moving. After living somewhere for a while, you start to notice its flaws. Chokepoints in corridors, not enough sun in rooms or lack of space are all problems that can be solved with renovation.

This type of property work can be a much cheaper option when compared to the hassle of moving home. Consulting an estate agent, searching for and moving into a new home can lead to added stress.

Maybe you've just found the perfect fixer-upper and are planning to make it your own. Whether it needs a complete gutting or just some fine-tuning, renovating can create a unique space that meets your needs. If appropriately done, renovations can be a cost-effective means of transforming a home.

The significant advantage of a remodel is to be able to make a place your own. You can add in more space, optimise energy efficiency and create the flow that works best for you.

For a complete renovation of a property, a schedule of work is most often the same. It must be carried out in the correct order, which looks like:

  • Current condition assessment
  • Stop further decay
  • Grants/Tax concessions
  • Statutory consents
  • Structural stability
  • Demolition work
  • Dealing with damp
  • Drains
  • Site access
  • Major building work
  • Weathertight
  • Exterior
  • External works
  • First fix
  • Plastering
  • Drying out
  • Fixed flooring
  • Second fix
  • Decoration
  • Final cleaning
  • Move-in
  • Snagging

We can advise you on any and every step and guide you through the process as required.

What to consider

Before beginning any home renovations on your property, planning permissions should be considered. The good news is that as long as you planned design stays within specific parameters, the project will likely not require planning permissions. These conditions include changes to external appearance and whether or not the building's renovation extends it past its original property lines.

Planning permissions are important for certain types of building, such as listed buildings, some period properties and those that sit in conservation areas.

As for building regulations, we can guarantee that our team complies with all guidelines and take every step to ensure a smooth, safe and efficient project.

Interior design

For the interior of any renovation, we have a range of options for every aspect of the build. Using our contacts with different suppliers means you can put your unique touch on everything from the countertops to the light switches.

Flooring options include a range of solid or laminate flooring with additions such as dry or wet underfloor heating.

For the renovation's walls, we provide plasterboard which is taped, filled and lined in timber or painted plaster finishes.

Window and door fittings can be fitted using the standard UPVC, which we obtain from Viking and Allan Brother. For options in wood, we have connections with bespoke joiners that means we can offer timber doors and windows to meet any specification,

New heating and electrical systems can be changed according to your needs. We can install heating that runs on LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), oil, electric or gas. We can also install ground and air source energy systems, for a more eco-friendly build. Electrical fittings can also be upgraded to adapt to your style, with the options for smart home ready technologies or higher specification fitments.

For the project's internal finishes, we work with oak, pine, MDF (medium-density fibreboard) with a range of options for worktop materials. Laminate, quartz, timber, granite and tile are just some of the materials you can choose from. If you had something else in mind, just let us know.

External options

External finishes can also be added to create a stunning renovation inside and out. Roofing can be constructed in a range of materials, from slate to steel, made to perfectly blend with the house's original features, or to fit any design. Paving, decking and slabbing can also be added to the renovation's exterior as well as any other finishing touches the job may need to make it perfect.
